World Water Day: Protecting water quality begins with “visible” water quality monitoring

The origin of "World Water Day"

In order to arouse public awareness of water conservation, establish a more comprehensive system for the sustainable utilization of water resources, and corresponding operational mechanisms, on January 18, 1993, the 47th session of the United Nations General Assembly, based on the recommendations outlined in the “Agenda 21” formulated by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, decided to designate March 22 of each year as “World Water Day” starting from 1993. This is intended to promote comprehensive planning and management of water resources, strengthen water resource protection, and address the increasingly severe water shortage issue. At the same time, extensive publicity and education activities will be carried out to enhance public awareness of the development and protection of water resources.
